Transportation Marketing

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
Philadelphia Northeast Airport (PNE)
M. Davis and Company, Inc. provided qualitative and quantitative research services to the Philadelphia International Airport and the Philadelphia Northeast Airport. The research:

  1. Examined attitudes, opinions and utilization of airport passenger services
  2. Monitored and elicited perceptions of the traveling public to initiatives implemented by airport management
  3. Identified and explored perceptions concerning B/C Terminal development
  4. Provided information to develop additional marketing tactics
  5. Determined the satisfaction factors critical to evaluation of a new Fixed Based Operator (FBO) by general aviation clients.

Transit Planning/Rail Planning

Conrail
M. Davis & Company, Inc. assessed client satisfaction with a new customer service center for Conrail. Our primary responsibilities were:

  1. Project design
  2. Questionnaire development
  3. Fielding
  4. Data processing
  5. Action Plan development
  6. Consultation

The project results enabled management to assess the performance of the service center and its ability to help develop satisfied customers.

Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA)
M. Davis & Company, Inc.conducted first ever ridership survey for the DRBA. The survey was integral in obtaining financing for acquisition of new ferries and refurbishing existing ferries. We designed a strategic plan which successfully increased revenue and ridership.

City of Wilmington Parking Authority
M. Davis & Company, Inc. examined:

  1. All parking facilities in downtown Wilmington
  2. Marketing tactics utilized by facility operators
  3. Safety and security issues
  4. The suitability of hours and operating characteristics
  5. The use of non-parking square footage
  6. The current parking rates.

According to industry experts, we developed the most comprehensive strategic plan and database available.

Specialized Transit Services

Montgomery County
This study assessed the need for transit services for disabled residents in Montgomery County, PA. Our primary responsibilities were:

  1. Questionnaire development
  2. Fielding
  3. Data processing
  4. Consultation

The results helped determine whether door-to door van service was more appropriate than the alternative service offered by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA).

Public Involvement

South Carolina Highway and Safety Department
M. Davis & Company, Inc. developed and implemented a public information and education campaign on pedestrian safety in selected geographic areas of South Carolina. Our primary responsibilities were providing consulting research services to help develop, implement, and evaluate the Pedestrian Safety Campaign. Our campaign resulted in an increase in the awareness and utilization of pedestrian safety practices.

Chester Transportation Station Renovation FTA
Livable Communities Initiative for SEPTA

M. Davis & Company, Inc. conducted focus groups and workshops, analyzed economic/social conditions and trends, identified key concerns of residents and provided an overview of key projects/developments in Chester relative to the planned renovation of the train station. Our results were utilized in the architectural design and physical renovation of the train station.

Policy Development

Federal Transit Administration (FTA)
M. Davis & Company, Inc. provided technical support in the areas of Cost Effectiveness, Productivity, Performance Analysis and Related Issues in Transit and Urban Transportation Systems for the FTA. We quantified the benefits of the Livable Communities Initiative, evaluated transit systems and provided information to assist the Administration with strategic planning and public policy. The book “Policy and Planning as Public Choice - Mass Transit in the United States” is based on this project.
